FIBER

As a spinner, Ingrid appreciates the value of clean fiber. We take a lot of time to remove any dust and debris prior to shearing. Prime fiber in various colors is available at $1 - $3 per ounce. The coarser neck and leg fiber (great for felting or rugs!) is for sale at $.50 per counce. We shear in the spring, so reserve early!

We also have "home grown" alpaca yarn for sale in many natural colors. Unlike commercial yarns, it is not dyed or treated with harsh chemicals.

We are pleased to announce the opening of the Pearl and Libby Fiber Store.

All products offered are the creation of owner and fiber artist Jacalyn Bak.

Each garment or toy is unique and exquisitely fashioned from alpaca yarn produced in this country. Jacalyn also offers custom made work. Customers may submit their own designs or ask for assistance in creating a special, customized piece of clothing or a crocheted toy for a precious little person in their life.
Jacalyn uses the fiber from her own alpacas. She purchases additional fiber from Stormwind Alpacas as well as from other farms that provide a healthy environment and gentle, respectful handling for their animals.

For orders or to discuss customized work, please contact Jacalyn at pearlandlibby@yahoo.com.

Alpaca fiber can be spun or felted. A felted alpaca hat (made by Carol Masters of Serenity Alpacas) is becoming famous among German hikers. Keep track of its adventures with Ingrid's sister Karin. The reporter of the Hat Tales is Ingrid's young German niece, Meike, who is working hard on improving her English. Click here to read her story.

Kate Perez, a well-established alpaca fiber artist and friend of Ingrid's, has written an interesting article on marketing alpaca fiber. To read it, click here.
